Welcome to the Southern Stampede website.
As some history Southern Stampede was established as the Southern Ice League entry in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League competition in 2005. At that stage Queenstown became the unofficial home for Stampede with the majority of the team members coming from the Queenstown club.

In 2009 the Southern Stampede found some of the form that saw them win back to back NZIHL Championships in 2005-06. They were narrowly beaten in the final by the Canterbury Red Devils 5-4.

The 2010 Southern Stampede Team has a very similar look to last years with many of the same players returning. The younger players are expected to perform very well after the experience gained last year and on the back of the U18's Gold Medal win in Mexico. These players will be backed up by a line up of experienced players including recently returned Ice Blacks Brett Speirs and Bert Haines. 2010 is going to be an exciting year for the Southern Stampede and with an ounce of luck we should see the NZIHL trophy return to Queenstown.
